Short film research: Suburbia
This short film features sound, set design, and editing that are all relevant to our film. The diegetic sound is the first thing that comes to mind. This is a technique employed in horror films to communicate the film's emotions. The sound in this film is employed to convey the anxiety and terror he is experiencing. A non-diegetic sound is also used to depict the film's surrounding feelings. To make the viewers uncomfortable, the film uses baby sounds from afar. Then there are gunshots and people fleeing to add to the film's unsettling atmosphere. The mise-en-scene in the film is inspired by the clothing. The man is dressed in typical street clothing, and the girl is dressed similarly. All of the characters wear the costumes that they are portraying, thus it is a true representation of their personalities.
